North Melbourne young forward Mason Wood has avoided a knee reconstruction, but will miss this weekend's game against Port Adelaide, with surgery still an option on his medial ligament.

It's unknown how long Wood will be missing from North Melbourne's senior side, but the injury adds further salt to the wound with the Kangaroos already suffering a number of injuries to senior players.

Midfielder Farren Ray will miss the next four to six weeks with a hamstring injury while Majak Daw is a chance to play against the Power despite injuring his ankle for Werribee in the VFL over the weekend.
