Forget about North Melbourne's tall timber exposing an understrength Western Bulldogs defence, Friday night's AFL blockbuster will be all about winning the footy.

Kangaroos coach Brad Scott says he's keenly anticipating the meeting of the top two sides on the AFL ladder at Etihad Stadium, which he believes will be a contested ball showdown.

"They're a clear number one in both the contested possession area of the game and the uncontested," Scott said.

"We're a clear number two. The contest is where it's key."
