North Melbourne are determined to make history by winning the AFL premiership from outside the top four.
The Kangaroos have flown to Perth for Saturday night's preliminary final, where they'll be underdogs against West Coast.
North star Shaun Higgins said at Melbourne airport that having to come from eighth to win the flag does not overawe them.
"We planned to go all the way anyway," he said.
"We've spoken about that at some stage, a team was going to do it from outside the top four - it may as well be us this year."
Top four teams have won every AFL flag since the current finals system was introduced in 2000.
